Matt Is now offering music store lessons!
for Guitar, Mandolin, Bass and Banjo at Robert M Sides in State college.
About my Teaching style:
My preference is to teach through the fundamentals of music theory and to use the staff to represent notes and rhythm.
I would typically use a standard book series for their particular instrument, then supplement with exercises and written songs
to further explain how what we are learning applies to general music. I am however, with adult students, flexible
and sometimes use a combination of rhythm values and tablature to communicate notes depending on their preference.
We then focus on the area of study (style, theory, rhythm, soloing, writing music...) that the student wishes to explore.
I encourage all students to listen to music and ask questions so I may bring to them
the correct exercises and answers to guide their musical journey!
